Bonnie Lou Hawk

Bonnie Lou Hawk, 90, formerly of Shippenville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA, following a period of declining health related to dementia.

Born on March 23, 1936, in Oak Ridge, PA, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Burton and Della Beatty Hawk. She graduated from Union Joint High School in Rimersburg, PA in 1954.

In her youth, Bonnie was a devoted member of the Baker Street Church of God in Rimersburg. Later in life, she enjoyed fellowship at Manor Methodist Church and Providence Church on the Ridge, both in Shippenville, where she especially enjoyed making pumpkin rolls.

Bonnie dedicated more than 35 years of service to Owens-Brockway in Clarion, PA, retiring in 1998. Following retirement, Bonnie volunteered at Clarion Hospital, where she was honored with the 2011 Senior Corps Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Volunteer of the Year Award. In addition to her career, she was a talented and well-known seamstress who owned and operated J&J Fabrics in Rimersburg, in the 1970s. She also served as Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sligo Chapter No. 289.

Bonnie had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found biking or hiking. Cook Forest held a special place in her heart, and she enjoyed birdwatching and taking walks there with Paul. She also enjoyed listening to country music, especially George Strait, and loved traveling and taking drives around town. One of her favorite traditions was shopping on Black Friday with her daughters. Known for her sweet tooth, Bonnie never passed up a good dessert and was known to order it before her meal. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with Paul and her daughters.

She is survived by her daughters, Justie Coachman (Rich Garris) of Downingtown, PA, and Jonna Coachman of West Chester, PA. She is also lovingly remembered by her special friend and cherished companion, Paul R. Lorigan of Oil City, PA.

Additional survivors include her sister, Jane Switzer of Streetsboro, Ohio; and her half-sister, Deborah Lauer, and her husband, Tom "Tike" Lauer, of Miola.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by a fiancé, Donald Hilliard, her brothers, Daniel, Jobe, and Terry Hawk, and her sister, Connie Guntrum.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Aseracare Hospice, McKinley Health Center, and Harmony Circle for the compassionate care they provided to Bonnie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie's memory to the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.

Family and friends will be received from 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM on Friday, Nov. 6, 2026 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home.
