Katherine M. Steele

Katherine M. Steele, 93, of Rimersburg PA, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 26, 1933 in Rimersburg, the daughter of David J. and Minnie M. (Bowser) Yates.

Katherine graduated from Rimersburg High School in 1951. She dedicated 26 years of service to the kitchen and laundry departments at Clairview Nursing and Rehabilitation before retiring in 1998. In her free time, she enjoyed working on puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, crocheting, and cooking and baking. Above all, Katherine cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her the greatest joy.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Jean Steele of Rimersburg, Barb Hetrick of Harborcreek, and Linda Horner and husband, Richard, of Rimersburg; three grandchildren, Courtney Barger and husband, Tom, Tiffany Horner, and Hannah Carpin and husband, Chris; three great-grandchildren, Leyton, Lawson, and Linkon Barger; a sister, Gail F. Stanford of Rimersburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Eugene Steele, whom she married on April 21, 1953 and who passed away on March 7, 1970; brothers, James W. and Richard J. Yates; sisters, Billie J. Summerville, Melva R. Boyles, and Ellen J. Sullivan; and son-in-law, Dennis Hetrick.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026 at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 758 Main St., Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Deeter officiating.

Interment will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA.
