Glenn Eugene Kimmel

Glenn Eugene Kimmel of Shelocta, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Glenn was born on September 10, 1941, in Shelocta to Edgar and Emma (Schaeffer) Kimmel.

After graduating from Elderton High School in 1959, Glenn pursued a career in the oil and gas industry. Glenn was employed by the Peoples Natural Gas Company and retired in gas measurement after thirty years. After retirement, he returned to work as a gas well tender for B & B Gas and Oil in Dayton, PA.

Glenn was a passionate farmer. From a very young age, he worked with his father on their dairy farm and continued to run the farm in the following decades. Glenn eventually transitioned his operation to Black Angus beef. Glenn put his mechanical talent to use by repairing all of his own farm equipment and taught his sons to do the same.

Glenn was an active member of the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren in Shelocta, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, youth leader, choir member, soloist, and various other leadership roles throughout his life. His family is grateful to him for teaching them to love Jesus, the gift of family, and the importance of faithfulness to the church and serving the Lord.

Glenn will be remembered for his quick wit, fun teasing, and the ability to make others laugh.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley (George) Kimmel of Shelocta. In addition to Shirley, Glenn is survived by two sons, Glenn Jr. (Kathy) of Shelocta and Eugene (Mary) of Blairsville; two daughters, Rosemary Shrout of Shelocta, and Jennifer Anderson, (Bob) of Blairsville; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin 'Skip' Kimmel and his wife Julia, Carl Kimmel and his wife Willadene; his sisters Gertrude Bouch and her husband Fred, Connie Kimmel and Ruth Kimmel.

The family wishes to thank the Amedisys' Doctors and nurses of Butler for the wonderful care he received in recent months.

Viewing and the funeral service will both be held at the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren, 3087 Dutch Run Road, Shelocta, PA.
Family and friends will be received from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026 at Plumcreek Church of the Brethren.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Monday, Sept.14, 2026 at the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren with Rev. Alfred Kimmel and Rev. Eric Longwell co-officiating.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
