James Royd Rhodes

James Royd "Jim" Rhodes, 89, of Grove City, PA, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Grove City Hospital.

He was born on February 6, 1935 in Rimersburg, PA; the son of Cecil Ray and Agnes Beatrice (Weaver) Rhodes.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of Union High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 1958 until Jan. 1960 serving in Germany with C Batter, 73rd Artillery, 3rd Armored Division where he received the Good Conduct Medal. Jim retired from the Cooper Bessmer plant in Grove City after working there for 38 years. He also worked as a carpet and other various flooring installer as a second job to help support his family. Jim enjoyed spending time at David's home watching the wildlife, Sunday dinners with family, hunting, fishing and collecting coins.

His memory will be cherished by son David Ward Rhodes and wife, Rebecca "Becky" of Mercer; grandchildren, Shannon Young and husband Nick, Daniel Rhodes, James Titus Rigby, Sarah Prince and husband Justin, Joshua Lamberton and Celia; two great-grandchildren, Connor Young and JJ Prince; brothers, Richard Rhodes, of Butler, and Paul Rhodes, of NuMine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cheri Lynette Rhodes McConnell, brothers, Gary Rhodes, Ronald Rhodes and Rev. Clayton Rhodes; and a sister, Betty Hockenberry.

Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 5-7 PM the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 AM at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.

Interment will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA.
