Robert E. Bishop

Robert E. Bishop, 87, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018, at Clarion Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of John and Elizabeth (Shook) Bishop.

Robert worked as a steel worker at Hubbard and Company in Pittsburgh and later left to honorably serve in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home he went back to Hubbard and Company and later relocated to Clarion County. Robert worked in maintenance for a number of years and was also a greeter at the Clarion Walmart. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Curllsville and the Clarion Moose. Robert enjoyed a quiet home life with his wife, Avenell, and had a deep love for his family. He also enjoyed striking up a conversation with everyone he met.

He will be remembered with love by his wife, Florence Avenell (Evanson) Bishop, whom he married July 15, 1950; daughters, Linda Simpson and husband, Paul, of Selinsgrove, and Debra Zamperini and husband, Jon, of Rimersburg; grandchildren, Paul Markus Simpson and wife, Holly, Maigan Swartz and husband, Ronald, Robert Michael Simpson, Jonathan Christopher Zamperini, and Desiree Elizabeth Zamperini; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ethan and London Simpson, Amelia, Alexandra and Adalynn Swartz, Ryleigh Zamperini, Mason Cobbet, Paige Zamperini, and Emmett Smith; and brother, Donald Bishop and wife, Sharon, of Pittsburgh.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Bishop, Jr.; and sisters, Mary Lou Rietzel, Delores Lennon and Margaret Bishop.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Grace Community Church, 3225 Curllsville Rd., Curllsville, PA 16221, with the Rev. Thomas Switzer officiating.
