Robert H. Doerr
Robert H. Doerr, 95, of Kittanning, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at his home.

He was born June 24, 1930, formerly of Ebensburg, PA, the son of Christian D. and Mabel (Thomas) Doerr. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was an educator for over 40 years. He was a graduate of IUP and Penn State University. He began his teaching career at the Altoona Senior High School where he taught business and was director of Class Organizations. In 1963, he joined the IUP staff as the founding director and associate professor of the new Armstrong Campus of Indiana University of PA. He served as the administrative head of the campus for 33 years and saw the campus enrollment increase to over 500 students. In recognition of his commitment to students, the campus library was named for him in 1984. He established the Robert H. Doerr Endowment Scholarship at IUP in 2019 to support students with financial need for many years to come.
Robert served on the board of directors of the Armstrong County Educational Trust of IUP, and the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. He was past president of the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and Tourist Bureau and was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was the last surviving warrant member of Seneca Masonic Lodge, No. 805, serving on the board of the Kittanning Masonic Temple, and a member of the New Castle Consistory. His hobbies included traveling, boating, biking, swimming and alpine skiing in the winter. After retiring, he enjoyed 25 years of alpine skiing at Seven Springs and other ski resorts. He was the president of the Westmoreland Ski Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Charles, who was killed in action in Korea; his sisters, Margaret Stoy, Mabel Betsy Ricupero, and Doris Mackenzie; and his brother, Christian Thomas Doerr. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
At Robert's request, there will be no visitation with a private interment at Lloyd Cemetery in Ebensburg, PA.
