Madeline "Mandy" Kost

Madeline "Mandy" Kost passed away peacefully at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Monday, July 21, 2025. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her-always cheerful, optimistic, kind, and full of love. Her warm smile and caring heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met. If you knew Mandy, you loved her.

Mandy was a graduate of Leechburg High School, attended Westmoreland School of Nursing and then continued her education at Duke University. A dedicated nurse for over 20 years, Mandy cared deeply for her patients and was known for her gentle spirit and compassionate heart. Outside of her career, she had a lifelong love of music-especially playing the piano and listening to Freddie Mercury. Her home was always filled with the warmth of music and the comfort of the animals she adored. Mandy also found great joy in spending time with friends and playing bridge as a member of the KCC Bridge Club.

Above all, Mandy was a dedicated mother and grandmother who adored "her girls" and grandchildren. She was a constant source of love and support, cherishing every moment spent with her family.

Mandy also treasured her friendships, many of which spanned decades. She had a gift for bringing people together, and her close circle of friends was a constant source of joy, laughter, and support throughout her life. Her loyalty and warmth made her not just a friend, but family to many.

Mandy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Kenneth R. Kost; her sister, Judith Secondo; her brother, Joseph Secondo; and her parents, Joseph Carlo Secondo and Gertrude (Luciak) Secondo.

She is survived by her loving sister, Catherine Ferrick; her devoted daughters, Kerry (Paul) Wolenski and Cecily (Stephen) Waratuke; her stepson, Kenneth J. (Janice) Kost; her cherished grandchildren, Anna and Evan Wolenski, and Emma, Juliet, and Kenneth Waratuke; and her step-grandchildren, Kaelin, Olivia, Elizabeth, Clayton Kost and Helena Wolenski. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, Karen Roman and Diane Lund; nephew, Paul Ferrick; and her great-nephews, Jesse, Theodore, and Christopher.

In accordance with Mandy's wishes, there will be no funeral service or public viewing. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington, Pennsylvania. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Orphans of the Storm, PO Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201, a cause close to her heart.

Mandy's spirit of joy, compassion, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
