Carol A. Sherman

Carol A. Sherman, 78, of Kittanning, PA, formerly of Etna, PA, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Concordia of Bridgeville.

She was born April 3, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of John E. and Mary P. (Leo) O'Connor.

Carol grew up in Etna and graduated from Etna High School in 1965. After graduating, she enjoyed working in downtown Pittsburgh at Mellon Bank. Carol later moved to Bedford, PA for four years and then to Kittanning in 1975, calling the area home ever since. In 1994, she earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Secretarial from Butler County Community College. Carol was also a longtime member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Throughout her life, Carol's endless love, compassion, and empathy for others was reflected in her kind words and thoughtful actions. She selflessly cared for her family and went out of her way to help those in need. Carol had a strong passion for taking care of animals and always made sure that they felt loved. She also brought joy to others through her quick wit and sense of humor.

Her memory will be cherished by her son, William D. "Bill" Sherman, of Palmyra, PA; daughters, Colleen L. Tracy and husband, Patrick, of Bellevue, PA, and Christine A. Sherman and partner, David Leaf, of Brentwood; grandchildren, Molly and Mia Sherman, and Simon and Julia Tracy; and a brother, John T. O'Connor of Etna.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her loyal husband, William J. Sherman, whom she married July 5, 1969 and who passed away on Jan. 19, 2020.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 101 W. High St., Kittanning, PA, with The Very Reverend Eric J. Dinga, V.F. as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sharpsburg, PA.
