Gail E. Thompson

Gail E. Thompson, 91, of Kittanning, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Premier Armstrong Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Kittanning, PA.

She was born in Manor Township, PA on Nov. 2, 1932 to the late Hazel (Hobaugh) Salkeld and the late John Salkeld.

Gail graduated from Kittanning High School in 1950 and lived in the Kittanning area most of her life. She was a secretary and worked for PPG in Ford City. After leaving there she enjoyed working side by side with her beloved husband, Harry (Joseph) Thompson who went to our Lord on Oct. 16, 1985. She also worked in the office of Dr. Frederick Doefler for many years before her retirement. Gail enjoyed traveling in which she got to experience many different countries and their cultures. She also enjoyed going to auctions and was an avid reader. She enjoyed and was a dedicated Steeler's fan.

Her memories will be cherished by her sons, Gary Heigley of Ford City and Eric (Sandra) Heigley of Ford City; and step-son, Rev. Dr. Murray (Karin) Thompson of Monroe Twp.

Gail will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Joshua Heigley, Sara Heigley, Christian (Megan) Skultety, Leans Skultety, Jessica Thompson, Aaron (Jaime) Thompson, Jarrod Thompson, Michael (Alicia) Burns, and Jeanette (Nick) Yatsko; 18 great grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

At Gail's request there will be no visitation or services.

A private interment will be held for the immediate family at a later date at the Kittanning Cemetery officiated by her step-son, Rev. Dr. Murray Thompson.
