Doris A. Walker

Doris A. Walker, 92, of Dayton, PA, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024 at Quality Life Services, Sugarcreek.

She was born Feb, 8, 1932 in Rural Valley, PA; the daughter of Donald Westlake and Grace (Harkleroad) Gearhart.

Doris was a member of the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. She would milk the cows morning and evening on the family farm. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and quilting and made at least 47 quilts for her family. Doris and her husband, Paul enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winter months. She will be lovingly remembered for being family oriented, her kind heart and her easy going nature.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Terry D. Walker of Dayton, Dennis Walker and wife Marsha of Waterford, and Timothy Walker and wife Connie of Indiana; daughter, Judy Williamson and husband Wayne of Dayton, PA; daughter-in-law, Shirley Walker of Dayton; grandchildren, Regina Walker, Tina Ulrich and husband Chris, Brian Walker and wife Lauren, Jeremy Walker and wife Trisha, Katie Lowrey and husband Tom, Travis Walker and wife Andrea, Todd Walker and wife Jenna, Michael Walker, Scott Walker, Mandy Williamson and companion Brent, Melissa McMeans and husband Shane, and Mark Williamson and wife, Allie; great-grandchildren, Nico, Paislee, Madeline, Sheridan, Brendan, Breanna, Connor, Ian, Kaleb, Landon, Tucker, Bentley, Jaedyn, Kyler, Ty, Kinsley, Kian, and Lily; and great-great-grandson, Ehlen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Paul Eugene Walker Jr. whom she married on May 1, 1952 and who passed away on Jan. 26, 2005; son, Donald Walker; daughter-in-law, Dora Mae Walker; grandson, Nicholas Walker; step-brother, Walter Gearhart; and step sisters, Marie Slagle and Ruby Hartzel.

Doris' family would like to provide many thanks to Back to Basics Personal Care Home, owner Sherry, Jesse and the other caregivers.

Family and friends will receive friends from 2 - 4 PM and 7 - 9 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 E. Main Street, Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 2540 Dayton Smicksburg Road, Dayton, PA 16222 with Rev. Sheila Wadding officiating.

Interment will be in Dayton Glade Run Cemetery, Dayton, PA.
