Gladys R. Johns

Gladys R. Johns, 92, of Elderton, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at ACMH in Kittanning, PA.

She was born October 29, 1931 in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the daughter of Arthur F. and Goldie I. (Reefer) Cribbs.

Gladys lived in Plumcreek Twp. all her life and was a dedicated member of Elderton Presbyterian Church, serving the congregation as a past elder. She worked at William's Grocery Store for 13 years and was the tax collector for Plumcreek Twp. for over 44 years. Gladys enjoyed being involved in the community and participated in the Elderton Garden Club and the Girty Grange. She liked to cook, and her family and friends were always happy to eat her many wonderful dishes. Gladys loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her entire family will always remember the love and devotion she had for them through the years.

Her memory will be cherished by her son, Terry Johns and wife, Blythe, of Elderton; grandchildren, Kirsten Stiffler, Nathan Johns and wife, Jennifer, Dan F. Zelenski and wife, Christie, and Senta Zelenski; great-grandchildren, Ayden Stiffler, Gabriella Stiffler, Travis Johns, Emily Johns, Aybrah Zelenski, Landon Zelenski, and Alayna Zelenski; and brother-in-law, Robert McConnell, of Erie.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 67 years, Harry G. Johns, whom she married on June 4, 1950 and who passed away on March 7, 2018; daughter, Nancy Zelenski; brothers, Wayne and Blaine Cribbs; sisters, Velma Bleakney and Grace McConnell; and brother-in-law, Blair Bleakney.

Friends will be received 10 AM until the time of services at 12 PM on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, with the Rev. Dr. Angel De La Cruz officiating.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
