Shirley F. Parks

Shirley F. Parks, 86, of Atwood, passed away with her loving family by her side on Valentines' Day Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024 at Grey's Colonial Acres in Kittanning, PA.

She was born on Sept. 24, 1937 in Atwood, PA; the daughter of Ward W. and Mary L. (Prugh) Gress.

Shirley was a member of the Atwood Presbyterian Church and a lifelong resident of the Atwood area. She enjoyed canning, polka music, and playing the accordion and piano. Shirley loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking trips to McDonalds.

Her memory will be cherished by loving husband, John Vernon Parks, whom she married on April 5, 1957; children, Susan Brumbaugh of Atwood, Ted Parks and wife, Carol of Atwood and Camilla Ackerson and husband, Bob of Elderton; grandchildren, Valerie (Brian) Bicker, Brett (Kelsey) Brumbaugh, Amanda (Dave) Bowser, Ryan (Lyn) Parks, and Bobby (Kisha) Ackerson; her great-grandchildren, Alexandria Faye Bicker, Victoria Lillian Bicker, Tucker Garner and baby boy Brumbaugh on the way, Gabby and Trent Bowser, and Gracie and Paisley Ackerson; brothers, Dean Gress and Gerald "Hop" Gress both of Atwood; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Gress of Elderton.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily Parks; a brother, Bernard Gress; and a sister-in-law, Judy Gress.

The family will receive friends from 12 PM until the time of services at 2 PM on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at the Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home, Inc. of 238 South Main Street, Elderton, PA with Rev. Colleen McFarland officiating.

Interment will be at Atwood Cemetery, Atwood, PA.

Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's memory to the Atwood Cemetery Association, 398 Old Elderton Hill Rd., Shelocta, PA, 15774.

Shirley's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ken and Paula Grey and the staff of Grey's Colonial Acres for the wonderful care they provided.
