Robert F. "Bob" Dunn

Robert F. "Bob" Dunn, 90, of Kittanning, passed away on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning, PA.

He was born on November 9, 1933 in the Applewold area of Kittanning, Armstrong Co., PA the son of Paul John and Margaret Jane (Bayne) Dunn.

Bob was a 1951 graduate of Kittanning High School. He was a member of Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church. He entered into the U.S. Army in 1956 in Pittsburgh and served in active duty before being discharged in 1958 at Ft. Belvoir, VA with the rank SP3. Bob also served in the active Reserves from 1958 to 1960 and in the inactive Reserves from 1960 to 1962, discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He started his employment at Curren's Grocery Store in Applewold and later was a mechanic with Highland Motors of Kittanning. Bob retired from the Linde Division of Union Carbide in Hatfield, PA, as a General Superintendent in 1984 with 22 years of service. During that time, he had resided in Alexandria, VA, Orchard Park, NY, Avon Lake, OH, Severna Park, MD and Exton, Downington, and Kittanning, PA as his position with his employer required him to relocate. After retirement, Bob and his wife Carrie operated Dunn's Auto Service Center of Kittanning for 18 years until 2001.

Having an appreciation for cars, Bob enjoyed attending car shows and restoring antique and classic vehicles. He took pride in his hand-tooled leather items that he made for his family and friends. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife, doing yard work, spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's school events.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, David R. Dunn and wife, Caroline, and Daniel E. Dunn and wife, Denise, both of Kittanning; six grandchildren, Carrie Gardner and husband, Matthew, of Bryan, OH, Cassandra Dively and husband, Jacob, of Berlin, PA, Christopher Dunn and wife, Amanda, of Cowansville, Emily Dunn, Robert A. Dunn and wife, Alysa, and Sarah Dunn all of Kittanning; nine great-grandchildren, Lorelai, Maelynn, Kinley, and Josiah Gardner, Leeland, Asher, and Silas Dively, and Abigail and Natalie Dunn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Carrie (Boney) Dunn whom he married Nov. 14, 1953 and who died Dec. 1, 2020; four brothers, Paul James Dunn, Raymond Joseph Dunn, William Bruce Dunn, and Charles Patrick Dunn; and sister, Alice Lucille Green.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at the funeral home with the Pastor Mike Bowser officiating.

Interment will be in the Kittanning Cemetery, Rayburn Twp., where the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
