Dan A. Painter
Dan A. Painter, Sr., 97, of Worthington, PA, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Quality Life Services, Sugar Creek, Worthington.He was born on July 12, 1927 in Kittanning, Armstrong Co., PA the son of the late Alonzo C. and Gertrude M. (Reed) Painter.
A lifetime resident of Armstrong County, Dan was a 1945 graduate of Kittanning High School. He attended the First Baptist Church of Kittanning. Dan honorably served his country as a 1st Class Fireman in the US Navy during WWII. He was previously employed for 39 years by West Penn Power Company as a Senior Maintenance Technician until his retirement in 1986.
He was also a member of the Kittanning East Brady Masonic Lodge No. 244, where he served as Past Master in 1989, the Tall Cedars Lodge No. 180 of Lebanon, and was a life member of the Coudersport Consistory. Additionally, he was a life member of the Kittanning Elks No. 203 where he was formerly an Exulted Ruler and Trustee, and was a member of the Worthington American Legion Post as well.
Dan was a former pilot who once owned his own plane. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time in the mountains at his camp in Tidioute, PA.
He will be deeply missed by his sons, Dan A. "Butch" Painter, Jr. and wife, Freddie, of Murrells Inlet, SC and Robert C. Painter and wife, Kelly, of Kittanning; step-son, Richard D. Trudgen and wife, Beth, of DuBois; daughters, Pamela G. Baumgartner of Venice, FL, Cheryl A. Burke and husband, Donald, of Fenelton, Dana L. Ball and husband, Glenn, of Madisonville, KY, and Debra L. Snyder and husband, Tom, of Cowansville; PA; son-in-law, Roger Claypoole of Worthington; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Pearl R. (Timmerberg) Painter; a daughter, Barbara L. Claypoole; granddaughter, Kimberly Burke Martino; two infant brothers, Robert and William Painter; and a son-in-law, Robert Baumgartner.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St, Kittanning. A Masonic Service will be held at ¬¬6:45 PM and an Elk Service will be immediately following.
Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM on Friday, August 9, 2024, until the time of funeral services at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 334 Arch Street, Kittanning, with the Rev. Jeffrey T. Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Armstrong Co, PA, where military honors will be presented by the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guards.
