Martha Ann McGaughey

Martha Ann McGaughey, 80, of Dayton, PA passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022 at Fawn Personal Care Home in Tarentum, PA.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1942 in Dayton, PA, the daughter of Charles and Nola Frye.

Martha graduated from Dayton High School. She was a member of the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church. Before her retirement, she was an assistant manager for the Olde Tyme Diner Restaurant in Dayton and sold Avon for over 35 years. For years she was a member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary where she was instrumental in fundraising, including the Thresherman's Supper and the Dayton Fair Fireman's Stand. Martha liked to talk on the phone and enjoyed eating out with her close friends. She loved to crotchet and watch old Western TV shows. Martha enjoyed visiting with family and friends and watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Jeffery McGaughey and wife, Sharon of Ford City, Donald McGaughey and wife, Leslie of Dayton, and Michael McGaughey, Sr. and wife, Carrie of Titusville; nine grandchildren, Nicholas McGaughey and wife, Janelle of Sarver, Julie McGaughey and Tim Dykes of Ford City, Kaila (McGaughey) Pugliese and husband, Donnie of McKees Rocks, Emily McGaughey and fiancé, Joey Meagher of Pittsburgh, Michael McGaughey, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Brody and Dylan McGaughey of Dayton, Evan Pietrone and fiancé, Colleen Molyreaux of Bellevue, and Sean Pietrone and fiancé Alyssa Pelinsky of Erie; seven great-grandchildren, Logan Thimons and Otto McGaughey, Kinsley and Kamden Pugliese, Bryson, Briah and soon to be born baby Bowen McGaughey. Martha is also survived by her brother, Merle Frye and wife, Merry Carol "Cack" Frye of Mayville, NY.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Duaine "Butch" McGaughey, whom she married on Sept. 15, 1961; who passed away on June 21, 2019; and two half-brothers, Paul Frye and James Frye.

Friends and family will be received from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at the Bauer Bly Funeral Home, Inc., 125 East Main Street, Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sheila Wadding officiating.

Interment will be in the Rural Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Rural Valley, PA.
