Merle Toy, Jr.

Merle Toy, Jr, 94, of Kittanning, formerly of Worthington, PA passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 17, 1927 in Worthington, PA, the son of Minnie C. and Merle Toy, Sr.

Merle was a lifelong resident of the Armstrong County area and a member of the Center Hill Covenant Brethren Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He founded Merle Toy Jr. Excavating in 1953, which is now Toy Pipeline. Merle was a member of the Kittanning Elks Lodge #203 and Worthington American Legion Post #828. He loved golfing at Cabin Greens, spending his winters in Florida with his wife, Willa and spending time in the summer at Treasure Lake. Merle will be lovingly remembered for enjoying life, loving the time spent with his family; and his contagious laugh.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Willa S. (Shaffer) Toy, whom he married on Dec. 14, 1956 in Winchester, VA; his sons, Lee A. Toy (Teresa) and Lynn A. Toy and wife, Darla all of Worthington; his daughters, Lisa A. Toy Boltz (Scott) of Butler and Lana M. Toy Crownover (fiancé, Eric) of Rural Valley; grandchildren, Heather Wright (Roy), Erica Boltz (Mike), Christopher Boltz, Brittany Lynch (Josh), Breanna Haley (Todd), Jillian Jack, Lance Toy, and Evan Toy; great-grandchildren, Chloey, Autumn, Dalson, Caden, Braden, Raegan, Channing, Kaylee, Claire, Harper, Owen, Jonathan, Scarlett, and Landon; great-great-grandchildren, Oaklee and Tommy; and a sister, Illene Thompson of Butler.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Erma Heilman and Delores Bowser; an infant brother; and grandson, Justin Toy.

Services will be private.

Interment will be in Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery with military honors.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Merle's memory to one's favorite church or charity.
