John R. Higgins

John Raymond Higgins, 49, of Cadogan, PA passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at ACMH, Kittanning of complications of diabetes and pneumonia.

He was born on December 1, 1972 to Carolyn (Pietrzak) and the late Ed Higgins in South Bend, Indiana. He is survived by fiancée, Aleea Perry; his mother; sons, Cody (Brittney) Higgins and Austin (Cheyanne Cota) Higgins; granddaughter, Ayliana, and grandson, Xander Higgins; sister, Mary (Dale) Minich; brother Pat Higgins; best friends, Pamela Gray, and Barbara and Don Davis, and his loving cats, Thomas, Luna, Dennis, and Guinness.

He was employed at Cleveland Cliffs/AK Steel, Butler, PA as a maintenance supervisor. He previously served on the New Carlisle Ambulance Service as an EMT and former Director of EMS. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 297; of the Terre Coupee Masonic Lodge 204; and the Freeport, PA Eagles. He loved Christmas lights ("Lights on Cherry Street"), to DJ, and enjoyed nothing more than vacationing on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 at 12 - 3 PM EST at the American Legion Post 297, 486 E. Michigan Street, New Carlisle, IN 46552. In accordance with his wishes, we will gather for food, drink and music in his honor and memory. Cremation has been completed by Bauer Funeral and Cremation Services of Kittanning, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to "save the kitties" at Pet Refuge of South Bend, IN or Indiana County Humane Society, Indiana, PA.
