Douglas W. Powell, Jr.

Douglas W. Powell, Jr., 51, of Palm Coast, Fla. passed away suddenly on January 10, 2020 at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1968 at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. to Douglas and Rosemary Powell.

With his father being in the Navy, Doug grew up in many different states. In his early years, he enjoyed playing football and baseball. After settling in Florida, he graduated from Seabreeze high School where he was on the Varsity soccer team. After a couple interim jobs, he became a Firefighter/EMT. He worked at Holly Hill Fire, Daytona Beach Fire and then Volusia County Fire Rescue until his retirement in 2016. He dedicated 25 years to the fire department.

His memory will be cherished by his mother, Rosemary Powell of Ormond Beach; two nephews, Eddie Sapp and wife, Becca and Sean Sapp; a great-nephew, Brodie Sapp and many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his best buddy, a Great Dane name Ellwood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas, Sr.; and two sisters, Sonja and Roxanne.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 East Main Street, Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 East Main Street, Dayton, PA.
with the Rev. Jason McQueen officiating.

Interment will be in the Smicksburg Lutheran Cemetery, West Mahoning Township, PA.
