Jeane V. Smart

Jeane V. Smart, 97, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at her residence.

She was born October 11, 1920 in West Kittanning, PA, to James and Orfa C. (Lasher) Vensel.

Jeane was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kittanning, where she was a member of the church choir for 60 years and served as trustee for the church's endowment fund. Additionally, she was a member of the church's Von Bora Bible Class. Jeane was employed for 42 years until her retirement in 1982 as an executive secretary, office and director for several business enterprises of Financer, Charles E. Andrews, Jr. She also managed the Andrews' Family Charitable Foundation Fund in New Bethlehem. Jeane possessed a true servant's heart and was known for philanthropic giving. She was a volunteer for the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary until her retirement in 2010 with 4,823 hours of service. Her family and friends will always remember her loving and giving spirit, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her nieces, Joy McMasters, Jeane Fawley, Naomi Bryson and husband, John, and Arlene Reitler; nephews, James Fawley and William Fawley; and dear friends, Marie and Henry Mores, and Eunice Young.

Jeane was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 62 years, Dale H. Smart, who passed away March 31, 2011; brothers, Dale E., Leslie A. and Blaine J. Vensel; infant brother, Homer Vensel; sister, Naomi Binder Lemmon; and a niece, Cynthia Duncan.

Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 218 N. Jefferson Street, Kittanning, with the Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating.

Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA.
