Guy Joseph Spera, Jr.

Guy Joseph Spera, Jr., 89, of Rural Valley, PA, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Beacon Ridge in Indiana.

He was born January 20, 1928 in Rural Valley, the son of Guy J. Spera, Sr. and Angelina (Pickle) Spera.

Guy was a lifelong resident of Rural Valley and honorably served in the US Army. He was the founder and co-owner of 85 Building Center in Rural Valley. Guy previously worked as a union carpenter and was the builder and developer of "The Rolling Hills" housing complex. Guy was a director of the Peoples Bank of Rural Valley for over 10 years and was also proud to serve Rural Valley as the mayor for 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Yatesboro. Guy enjoyed collecting stamps and also loved collecting antique cars. His grandson, Michael, was the pride and joy of his life.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Gloria (Lamber) Spera, whom he married June 9, 1956; sons, Guy (Debra) Spera, III, and William (Tricia) Spera, all of Rural Valley; daughter, Anna Spera, of Rural Valley; grandchildren, Michael and Sydney, of Rural Valley; and sister, Virginia Collier, of Tamarac, FL.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John D. Spera; sister, Mary Ellen Clark; infant sister, Anna Spera; and son-in-law, Cliff Ankney in August of 2016.

At Guy's request, services will be private.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Yatesboro, PA.
