Eleanor H. Galbraith

Eleanor H. Galbraith, 94, of Cabot, PA, formerly of Elderton, PA, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at ACMH Hospital.

She was born May 15, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Bert and Lucille (Spang) Klingensmith.

Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Armstrong County and graduated from Ford City High School in 1941. She spent most of her life in Elderton and was blessed to be able to care for her family and home. She was a member of Mt. Union Lutheran Church and a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Eleanor was very involved with her church, both as a former choir member and member of the Women's Evangelical Lutheran Church Association. In Elderton, she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, where she was the former secretary, and served on the Elderton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Eleanor also enjoyed volunteering at the Rural Valley Helping Hands Center. She was a gifted crafter and spent her free time knitting, crocheting, tatting and quilting. Eleanor will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, G. LaRee McKinley and husband, David, of Ford City, and Amy Sue Haponski and husband, Rudolph, of Sarver; grandchildren, Justin Haponski and wife, Davina, Garrett Haponski and wife, Chelsea, and Tara Galbraith O'Leary; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Cecilia, Avery and Hannah Haponski; brother, Lewis Clair Klingensmith and wife, Carroll, of Ford City; and sisters, Anna Mae Klingensmith, of Cabot, and Elma Shields of Blairsville, PA.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Joshua Paul Galbraith, whom she married January 15, 1946 and who died March 20, 2003; son, Jay Paul Galbraith; and brother, Franklin Dean Klingensmith.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12 PM on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 119 Bethel Church Rd., Ford City, PA 16226, with Pastor Larry Kemp officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Ford City, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Eleanor's honor to the Bethel Lutheran Church.
