Veronica Ann "Ronnie" Spangler

Veronica Ann "Ronnie" Spangler, beloved wife of Joseph L. Spangler and loving mother of Dawn Ruble (Mark), Tracy Perun (Blane), Eric Spangler (Yolanda) and Julie Lewis (Wes), passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

She was born and raised in Somerset, MA, the daughter of Joseph and Alma (Menezes) Botelho and older sister to Loretta. Ronnie graduated from Somerset High School in 1960 and worked as a cashier. She met and married Joe in early 1964 and moved to Kittanning, where she became a treasured member of the Spangler family and the group of friends with whom she surrounded herself. She soon became a mother of four children in a six-year time period, which kept her very busy!

In 1970, she went back to work as a cashier at Shop N' Save in Kittanning for 15 years, and then went on to be the office manager for National Product Service for 15 more. While these were the places in which she was employed, her favorite job by far was being a Vavo (grandma) to nine amazing kids: Veronica and Nathan Bagoly, Joey Ruble, Ashley Kesler, Alyssa Kostick, Shannon, Ryan and Kevin Spangler, and Maggie Lewis. And then, as a bonus, being a Visa-Vo (great-grandma) to five fantastic little guys: Lyra Patsy, Ava Bagoly, and Adrianna, Crosby, and Pheonix Kesler. They were all the lights of her life and kept her happy for years!

Other things that she really enjoyed were taking pictures, knitting scarves for everyone in the tri-state area, reading (and rummaging through a good book sale), taking yard sale-ing to new heights, taking the grandkids on movie and Valley Dairy dates, and talking to and encouraging everyone she met.

Ronnie was an amazing lady that truly exemplified the Christ-like love that the Bible teaches us. Her passing will leave a tremendous mark on the lives of all who loved her, but the joy that we have all experienced just from knowing her will live on long after the pain is gone. We have been blessed to be her family.

Friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 333 N. McKean St., Kittanning, with the Rev. John W. Snyder and the Pastor Edward Walters co-officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kittanning Public Library, 280 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA 16201 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
