Eleanor C. Young

Eleanor C. Young, 95, of West Kittanning, PA, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at ACMH Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1921 in Templeton, PA, the daughter of Walter H. and Alice B. (Bechtel) Miller.

Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Kittanning and worked for over 50 years at the Armstrong County Court House, spending a majority of those years as the Chief Clerk for the Armstrong County Register and Recorder's Office. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and served in many different roles. Eleanor was a past elder, Sunday school teacher and Presbyterian Women's Association Moderator. She also greatly enjoyed being in charge of the church kitchen where she coordinated and helped prepare church dinners.

Eleanor always found joy in camping at the Rustic Acres Campground and reminiscing about growing up in Templeton. She was a big fan of football and also followed the Pittsburgh Pirates. Most of all, Eleanor loved spending time with her family, friends and special granddog, Mocha Lou.

Eleanor's memory will be cherished by her daughter, Alice L. Young, of West Kittanning; special cousins, Helen Bowser and husband, John, of Elderton, Debra and William Blacksmith and family, of Plum, and Kara Boyer and husband, Jon, of Shelocta; niece, Ruth Anderson, of Kittanning; and other cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, A. Glenn Young, whom she married May 29, 1946 and who died August 23, 1998; and brothers, Harold J. Miller and Daniel W. Miller.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 North McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of funeral services at 10 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dana Wilmot, Rev. Jeffrey Potter and Rev. Hester Shick co-officiating.

Interment will be at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Eleanor's honor to Grace Presbyterian Church, 155 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA 16201.
