George Rush Gallaher, Jr.

George Rush Gallaher, Jr., 57, of Oakmont, PA, formerly of Kittanning, PA, died Thursday, January 21, 2016, at WakeMed Hospital, NC, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Kittanning on October 30, 1958, to George Rush Gallaher, Sr. and Carol Eileen (Johnston) Gallaher.

George graduated from Kittanning High School in 1976. He continued his education by earning a Bachelor's Degree in 1980 and a Ph.D. in 1989 both in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He holds several U.S. patents for chemical compounds that he collaborated to create throughout his career as a chemical engineer. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, and camping. George will best be remembered for his quick-witted sense of humor.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his two sons, Sean Michael Gallaher of Pittsburgh, PA, and David Casey Gallaher of Oakmont, PA; his daughter, Katherine Anna Gallaher of Oakmont, PA; a brother, Kevin Sean Gallaher of Raleigh, NC; and a sister, Alice "Lynn" Kozicki and husband, Robert of Kittanning.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
