Donald J. Sedwick, 90, of Kittanning, PA died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at St. Margaret's Hospital.

He was born May 10, 1925 in Kittanning to George L. Sedwick, Sr. and Bernice (Brownell) Sedwick.

Donald was a lifetime resident of Kittanning and was of the protestant faith. He honorably served as a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. Donald worked at the Kittanning Telephone Company in 1946 and later took a position at the Freeport Telephone Company. In 1951, Donald took the position of surveyor at R. B. Shannon and Associates and stayed with the company until his retirement in 1986.

He was a member of the American Legion and loved being outdoors, with hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp in Cook Forest being some of his favorite pastimes. Donald also enjoyed mowing his yard and was gifted with the ability to fix anything. He loved his family and was a wonderful grandfather, and was looking forward to becoming a first-time great-grandfather early next year. Donald had a great sense of humor and could never sit still, always looking to see what project he could undertake next. Those who knew him will never forget his many stories and deep wisdom.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy (Corbett) Sedwick, whom he married January 26, 1946; son, Doug Sedwick and wife, Amy, of Chicora; granddaughter, Renee Good and husband, Ira, of Slippery Rock; and sister, Joyce Shannon, of Kittanning.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Sedwick, Jr.
