William J. McElhattan

William J. McElhattan, 83, of Shelocta, PA, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 25, 1932 in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the son of Thomas C. and Mildred (George) McElhattan.

William lived in the area all of his life and was a member of the Indiana Jehovah's Witness congregation. For 30 years, he drove truck for Lawton Trucking, Inc. and retired in 1984. William was known for his handyman skills and was able to fix almost anything. He will be remembered for being a wonderful neighbor who often lent his talents to repairing items for those he knew.

His memory will be carried on with love by his grandchildren, Heather McElhattan, Gretta Harris and husband, Curtis, Luke W. McElhattan and Jacob W. McElhattan; great-grandchildren, Steven and Jazlyn Stockdale, Lillian and Breana Harris, and Blake W. McElhattan; brother, Robert R. McElhattan and wife, Cathy, of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Betty Jackson, of Lisbon, OH, Helen Jane Hankey and husband, Jake, of Shay, Gladys Gillespie and husband, Chuck, of Shelocta, and Shirley Faye Woodard and husband, Ben, of Silver Spring, GA; daughter-in-law, Kim McElhattan, of Maryland; and mother of his children, Mildred McElhattan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, William J. "Billy" McElhattan, Jr., David P. McElhattan and Donald C. McElhattan; three brothers; and sisters, Iva Harbour and Ruth Hankey.

At William's request, services were private.

Burial will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
