Robert A. "Bob" Heckman, 89, of Kittanning, PA, died Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Kittanning Care Center.

He was born in Kittanning on November 15, 1925, to Ralph and Thelma (Rupp) Heckman.

Bob was a 1945 graduate of Kittanning High School and a member of Christ Rupp Lutheran Church, where he served as a Church Councilman for many years. Bob was the owner of Heckman Appliance in Kittanning for 35 years and was a charter member of Kittanning Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. He honorably served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II as a corporal. Bob was a life member of the American Trap Shooting Association. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Virginia L. (Hartman) Heckman, whom he married March 17, 1951; nephews, J. David Hartman and wife, Kathleen, of Kittanning, and John A. Hartman and wife, Nevin, of Richmond, VA; niece, Suzanne Miller and husband, Michael, of Upper St. Clair; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Robert M. Hartman.

Relatives and friends may visit from 7-9 PM on Monday, January 19, 2015, at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Mackey officiating.

Burial will follow in Christ Rupp Lutheran Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
