William Dwight Henderson

William Dwight Henderson, 79, of Shelocta, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born July 11, 1935 in South Bend Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the son of J. Steele Henderson and Charlotte (McIntire) Henderson.

William was a resident of Shelocta for most of his life and retired from Operating Engineers Local #66 of Monroeville, where he worked as a gradall operator. He was a member of Pollock Lodge #502 of Tarentum. William enjoyed sports and loved his El Camino.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 58 years, Annabelle (Prugh) Henderson, whom he married June 2, 1956; sons, Richard E. Henderson and wife, Diane, of Atwood, and William E. Henderson and wife, Sally, of Shelocta; daughter, Shelby McGaughey and husband, Shawn, of Shelocta; grandchildren, Richard Henderson and wife, Cynthia, of Union City, Kelli Wingard and husband, Troy, of Homer City, Christina Kinter and husband, Matthew, of Marion Center, Terri Tripp and husband, Jeremy, of Winn, ME, David Erdley and companion, Marisa, of Shelocta, and Sarah Erdley, of Shelocta; great-grandchildren, Steele, Levi and Asa Henderson, of Union City, Gage Wingard, of Homer City, Andrew Kinter, of Marion Center, Landon and Carter Tripp, of Winn, ME, Cheyenne and Layla Erdley, of Shelocta, and Kimora Walker and Kash Robinson, of Shelocta; brother, John M. and wife, Gloria, Henderson, of Shelocta; and sisters, Loretta J. Turk, of McIntyre, PA, Leora Rising, of Indiana, PA, Linda M. Ruchel and husband, David, of Huber Heights, OH, and Luana J. Coulter and husband, James, of Indiana, PA.

William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert A. Henderson and James L. Henderson; and sisters, Lois V. Hawk and Lorraine Silvis.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the Clark Chapel Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA. Funeral services will follow at 8 PM with the Chaplin Tom Spiker, VNA Hospice Indiana, officiating.

Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery, Atwood, PA.
