James J. Fair, 90, of Hudson, FL, formerly of Petrolia, PA, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014, at Bayonet Point Hospital.

James was born September 13, 1924 in Petrolia, the son of Roy O. and Erla R. (Jackson) Fair.

James graduated from Karns City High School in 1943 and honorably served as a corporal in the US Army during World War II. He was stationed in England, France, Holland and Belgium. James worked for Walker Drilling in Bruin from 1946-1950 and then became the foreman of the distillation department at Witco, a position he held for 38 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Karns City United Methodist Church and belonged to VFW Post 7073 in Parker, American Legion Post 642 of Chicora and F&AM Masonic Lodge 521 of Parker.

He is survived by his son, John R. Fair, of Hudson, FL; daughters, Jill R. Southworth and husband, Larry, of Charlotte, NC, and Ginger R. Flaniken and husband, Michael, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Naomi Grega, Clint Fair, Sarah Flaniken, Shawn Southworth and Melanie Jones; and five great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Margaret C. (Vensel) Fair.

A memorial service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 102 S. Argyle St., Petrolia.

Burial will be at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia, where military honors will be presented by the Patriot Guard Riders, American Legion Post 642 and VFW Post 7876.
