Ernest R. Bowser

Ernest R. Bowser, 91, of Kittanning, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 17, 2013 at his home.

He was born March 21, 1922 on his family's farm in North Buffalo Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the son of Clarence and Margaret (Bouch) Bowser.

Ernest graduated from Kittanning High School in 1940 and lived on his family's farm all his life, where he worked as a farmer and dairy farmer. He was an active member of Center Hill Church of the Brethren, where he served as a Deacon. Faith was paramount in his life and he was a student of the Bible. Ernest loved investing in others; he taught Sunday school for many years and held many Sunday school and church offices. He also had perfect attendance for Sunday school for 43 years.

Photography was Ernest's favorite hobby and he took many beautiful photographs throughout his life. Center Hill Church of the Brethren was the focus of many of his pictures and they are displayed in an album at the church. Ernest enjoyed making recordings of his relatives and friends singing or talking, and these recordings were often listened to during parties and get-togethers. Music was another important part of his life, and in his younger years he played the guitar in a musical group with his siblings. Ernest loved spending time with his family and his nieces, and those who knew him will always remember his kind, sweet and hardworking nature.

He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Paul Bowser and Jay Bowser, both of Kittanning; sister, Esther Bowser, of Kittanning; and nieces, Joetta Gibson and husband, Clyde, of North Huntingdon, Mary Lou Rusbarsky, of Castle Shannon, and Elaine Mazza and husband, Ronald, of Ross Township.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold Bowser; sisters-in-law, Ruth Bowser and Helen Bowser; and infant niece, Melissa Bowser.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Center Hill Church of the Brethren, 2039 Freeport Rd., Kittanning, with the Rev. Dr. Wes Berkebile officiating.

Burial will be in Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
