Emmet G. Reefer

Emmet G. Reefer, 92, of Shelocta, PA, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Margaret Manor Personal Care Home of Kittanning.

He was born in Plumcreek Twp. on August 3, 1920, to Getus and Elizabeth (Meyer) Reefer.

Mr. Reefer was a lifelong resident of Plumcreek Twp. Emmet was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Gastown. He was employed as a Construction worker for a combined 34 years at Yount Company for 20 years and Bracken for 14 years. He honorably served his country as a Corporal in the U. S. Army during WWII. He loved wood working, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emmet was also a member of the Elderton American Legion.

Emmet enjoyed the time he spent at Margaret Manor and with that said, the family would like the Margaret Manor owners and staff to know how important their love and caring support has been. Thank you to each and everyone for the way you have loved and cared for Emmet.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Theresa Elaine Meyer and her husband Dale of Shelocta, PA; two grandsons, Barry E. Meyer and his wife Lori, and Brian D. Meyer and his wife Monica; three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Bethany, and Gavin Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 55 years, Rose Laurette (Wranich) Reefer; three brothers, Lloyd, Ward, and Eugene Reefer; and a sister, Louise Scott.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Clark Chapel Funeral Home, 238 South Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10-11AM until the time of funeral services at 11AM on Thursday, May 16, at his church, Christ Lutheran Church of Gastown with Rev. Joyce Dix-Weiers officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, Armstrong Co., PA where military honors will be presented by the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made in Emmet's honor to the Christ Lutheran Church, 205 Gastown Road, Shelocta, PA.
